Having a trip to Mount Bromo, the most hiked Mount in East Java seems to be both fascinating and challenging. This volcano is also a part of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. On August – September, Tengger tribespeople holds a Yadnya Kasada event. It’s is a Tengger tribe’s Thanksgiving Day. This is a must-see event if you come to Mount Bromo.
This event is held on the 14th day of Kasada Month in the Hindu’s lunar calendar. The Yadnya Kasada, or often known as Kesodo, is held based on the legend of Roro Anteng and Joko Seger.
A famous legend told that once upon a time Roro Anteng and Joko Seger, a couple from Mount Bromo, had no any children yet. After they had meditated at the top of Mount Bromo, the God gave them 25 children with one condition. They must throw the 25th child into the crater. The 25th child then sacrificed himself.
In the Yadnya Kasada event, Tengger tribespeople will pray together and then throw offerings into the Mount Bromo’s crater.
